Apostasy Masquerading as Theology: The Error of Christian Antisemitism
By Robert Rousseau
Let’s stop pretending this is a noble “theological difference.” It isn’t. What masquerades as theology is, in reality, the same toxic error Augustine institutionalized centuries ago—cutting Christianity off from its Jewish root. The fruit of that error was centuries of blood, ghettos, pogroms, and ultimately the Holocaust. That is the lineage of replacement theology. And those who defend it must own it.
The Apostle Paul warned explicitly against this error in Romans 11:18–20:
“Do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you… Do not be haughty, but fear.”
What is replacement theology if not arrogant Gentile boasting against Israel? It is the very attitude Paul forbade.

God’s Covenant with Israel Is Irrevocable
Paul says it plainly:
Romans 11:29 – “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
God’s promises to Israel are not subject to revocation. Yet supersessionism insists that God has discarded His covenant people. The choice is stark: believe man’s theology, or believe the Word of God.
The prophets declared the permanence of Israel’s place in God’s plan:
• Jeremiah 31:35–37 — Israel will endure before God as surely as the sun, moon, and stars endure. Has the sun ceased to rise? Has the moon vanished? Then neither has Israel. To deny this is not only false—it makes God a liar.
• Zechariah 12:10 — God declares that Israel will one day look upon Him whom they pierced and mourn. That day has not yet come. It is still future, proving Israel retains a central, prophetic role in God’s unfolding plan.

The Kingdom Still Centers on Israel
The culmination of redemptive history is not Rome, not Augustine, not Wittenberg—but Jerusalem.
• Isaiah 2:2–4 — The nations will stream to Zion to be taught by the Lord Himself.
• Revelation 20:4–6 — Christ will reign visibly for a thousand years, ruling the nations from Jerusalem.
This is the scriptural vision: a restored Israel, with Messiah reigning from David’s throne.

The Rotten Fruit of Replacement Theology
History reveals the fruit of antisemitic theology:
• Augustine’s arrogance
• Rome’s corruption
• Luther’s rage
• Hitler’s justification
Jesus warned: “By their fruits you will know them” (Matthew 7:16). Replacement theology has produced poisoned fruit for centuries. Why? Because it blasphemes God’s faithfulness, undermines His covenants, and aligns itself with the spirit that has sought to erase the Jewish people from history.
⸻
Apostasy, Not Orthodoxy
Paul warned Gentile believers:
Romans 11:21 — “If God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.”
To despise Israel is to despise the very root that gives life. That is not orthodoxy—it is apostasy.
Let’s be honest: this is not about debating minor theology. It’s about whether you will stand with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—or with the spirit of antisemitism that has disguised itself in the church for far too long.
The covenant-keeping God has spoken. His promises to Israel stand. His Word has not failed. And those who mock, erase, or “spiritualize away” Israel’s place are not correcting theology—they are contradicting Scripture itself.
